Ever since it was founded in 1949, the purpose of the Council of Europe has been to bring together all of the democracies of the old continent. Currently 46 member states representing a combined population of approximately 700 million people are members of this club for multi-party democracies, whose priorities are the protection of human rights but also social affairs, education, culture and the environment. You’ll discover some areas that are usually off-limits and find out what goes on inside. Follow the guide! Length: 3 to 7 minutes. Virtual tour in English EuropeQuest, the new game to discover the buildings and activities of the Council of Europe Want to have a go? - nothing could be simpler! Just make your way to the 46-nation Organisation’s forecourt, located on Avenue de l'Europe in Strasbourg (opposite the Orangerie parc), with a smartphone. The start point is near the 46 flags of the member states, where a sign board with a QR code will enable visitors to launch the game in French or in English. A “star treader” will then take them on a tour around the outside of the 5 emblematic buildings of the Council: the Palais de l’Europe, the Human Rights Building, the Agora, the EDQM (European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & Healthcare) and (optionally) the European Youth Centre. The path will be filled with discoveries, through quizzes, puzzles and other various enigmas that will allow the collection of a total of 12 stars of the European flag. With family or friends, the game (free of charge) takes about an hour to cover the one-kilometre-long course.
