Platoon is a war film set during the Vietnam War, directed by Oliver Stone. The film was released to the cinemas in the USA on 19 December 1986. Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen) is a young American who has abandoned a privileged life at a university to enlist in the infantry, volunteering for combat duty in Vietnam. The year is September 1967.
