Immortal Game (1851)
The romantic era of chess is best described as the period between 1850 & 1950. Back then, chess players mainly relied on tactics, wild sacrifices and extremely dynamic play to win games. This game is between Adolf Anderssen and Lionel Kieseritzky. It was played in London in 1851. Known today as the "Immortal Game". The bold sacrifices Anderssen made have made it one of the most famous chess games of all time. Anderssen gave up both rooks and a bishop, then his queen, checkmating his opponent with his three remaining minor pieces.
