Levon Aronian is in the Berlin FIDE Grand Prix semi-finals and now the new US no. 1 on the live rating list after winning a thriller against Vincent Keymer. Hikaru Nakamura defeated Alexander Grischuk’s King’s Indian Defence in style but still faces a showdown against Andrey Esipenko in the last round, after the 19-year-old beat Etienne Bacrot. Wesley So leads Group D, but Leinier Dominguez beat Harikrishna to move to within half a point, while Group B is wide open, with Radek Wojtaszek and Vladimir Fedoseev neck and neck with Richard Rapport half a point back.
