Alireza Firouzja beat Markus Ragger and climbed back to world no. 4 on the live rating list as he made his debut in a 3:1 victory for France over Austria in Round 1 of the European Team Championship. France, who also feature MVL, are 3rd seeds, with top seeds Russia and Azerbaijan cruising in Round 1.
